Bangladesh Railway will start selling advance tickets from May 21 on the occasion of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha. Advance tickets for May 31 will be issued on this day. 10 special trains will run on different routes to transport additional passengers during Eid. In addition, 3 cattle special trains will run to transport sacrificial animals.
Advisor Muhammad Fauzul Kabir Khan gave this information after the Eid-ul-Azha preparatory meeting of the Ministry of Roads and Railways at the Bidyut Bhaban on Monday morning, May 12.
It was informed at the press conference that before Eid, tickets for intercity trains for May 31 will go on sale on May 21, tickets for June 1 on May 22, tickets for June 2 on May 23, tickets for June 3 on May 24, tickets for June 4 on May 25, tickets for June 5 on May 26 and tickets for June 6 will be sold on May 27. In addition, return tickets for Eid will be sold from May 30. Tickets for June 9 will be available on this day.
It was informed at the press conference that this time all train tickets will be sold online. Tickets for all intercity trains running in the western region will go on sale at 8 am and tickets for all trains running in the eastern region will start at 2 pm.
At the press conference, the railway advisor said that 44 coaches will be added this time to carry additional passengers during Eid. And a total of 33,315 tickets will be sold in 43 intercity trains from Dhaka every day. In addition, three cattle special trains will run.
These trains will run from June 2 to 3, the railway advisor said.
Regarding the transportation of passengers on the roof of the train, the advisor said, no passenger will be allowed to climb on the roof of the train during the Eid journey this time. At the same time, arrangements must be made to stop passengers who try to climb over the heads of the windows and doors.
